Crown Financial

David and I have begun a new bible study that is designed to help us learn to use money in the ways God intended. The study is called Crown Financial Ministries. For ten weeks we will be taught how God wants us to use the riches he has given us. We are so excited to see if we can find true financial freedom and to be blessed by God even more than we already are. We will also be learning to be content with what we have, something that has long eluded us.

I pray all of you will be praying for us as we study and learn so that we will get the most out of this and come out the other side better stewards of the Lord's money and that we learn to live within his guidelines for our lives. We will be praying for all of you, that God may shine his light upon your lives and bless you as richly as he has blessed us.

Will keep you posted on our lives and our study. With much love to all our family and friends, God Bless you all!

April 20, 2008

David and I just returned from a quick five day trip to Eldon, Missouri. We had to run down there for a funeral for his Aunt Jean who passed away on the 13th. It was a rather disturbing trip not only because of the reason for it but because her own daughter and grandchildren did not bother to attend. They came to the funeral home a few days before to see what was being done and how much it would cost...presumably to see how it would eat into their inheritance because after that they conned the neighbor lady into letting them into Jean's apartment where they proceeded to clean out anything of value including her wedding rings!

It amazes me the audacity of some people. Then her granddaughter who never really had anything to do with her grandmother had the nerve to question why her mother was not called by someone in the family instead of the neighbor who had taken care of Jean until her death. Well, I wonder if it had to do with the fact that none of us had the phone numbers to call because neither her daughter or her granddaughter wanted anything to do with the family or Jean. It was only Joan (the neighbor lady) who had access to the address book and their names. My feeling is does it really matter who called as long as you were called even if you never came to she her or even write to her or phone her?? I don't think so!

For David and I, it was a time to not only pay our respects to the deceased, but to visit with the aging family members that were there that we communicate with regularly. We were both amazed how much his Uncle Leonard looks like his father, David's grandfather. They act a lot alike also, I told David that would be a good way for our kids to get to know their Great Grandfather. He died when James was 2 and Beth was 10 months old, so at least they could get to know him through the stories Uncle Leonard can pass on to them.

We had a nice visit with David's step-father, Bob. We stayed at his home and really enjoyed the time to visit and talk. We also got to see and talk with his cousins that he had not seen in over 10 years. They had a great time telling stories on each other. All in all it was a wonderful visit after the funeral was over.

We had a wonderful time traveling just the two of us. Gave us time to discuss things and try to work on the stress that has been plaguing us. I pray that this will help to renew our marriage and to draw us closer to each other. We pray for all our family and friends daily and hope that God will bless you!!

Update April 10, 2008

I know it has been a while since I posted an update so here goes....

We are still waiting on the Veteran's Administration to increase David's disablility based on his hip replacements. They could take as long as 18 months and have already taken 8 months so we may have quite a wait still. In the meantime, David has not had any luck in finding a job here in Trinidad, he did have an interview today that we are very hopeful about. Right now any amount of income would be a help, my hours have been cut which does not help.

We are anxiously awaiting for May 9th to arrive, this is the day we get to go to Greeley to move James home from college. He will be attending Trinidad State Junior College next year or he may be working for a year as a Certified Nursing Assistant in training. In order to get into Nursing school he needs to get his CNA before hand.

Beth and Ben are getting excited about their trip to Washington, DC in July. The fundraising efforts have brought them over the 1/2 way point to making the trip. It is looking good but we still need some help. If you know of anyone who is willing to make a donation, please contact me at zehrfamily@msn.com make sure your subject says something about THS Marching Band. Corporate sponsors are greatly appreciated and for a donation of $1000.00 or more you will have your name on the back of the t-shirts the kids will wear not only in DC but they will wear them for the next school year especially during marching season. So get some publicity for your business while helping a very talented group of high school musicians.

Well that is about all the news for now...hope to hear from some of you soon...keep us posted on your day to day lives when you can.

God Bless you all!!!
